Step 3 of 5 on the chain

Value spread

How much the values you send differ from one another, usually read as the ratio between the top and the bottom of the range.

Why it matters

It is the thing bidding actually acts on. Smart Bidding works on the difference between one lead's value and the next, so spread, not accuracy, decides whether anything changes.

What goes wrong

This is the most counter-intuitive idea in the category. A model that is slightly wrong about every lead but ranks them correctly will outperform a model that is closer on average and ranks them all the same. Precision is worth far less than separation.

What this product does about it

A top-to-bottom ratio under 2x, or 90% of leads sitting on one figure, is reported as flat and refused rather than published.

Measure this on your own data

The diagnostic reads a CRM export in your browser and reports your volume, your match rate and the spread between your leads against the thresholds in this glossary. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.

See what your own leads are worth

Read your closed deals and find out whether your lead values actually vary, and by how much. Nothing is stored, and your file is read in your browser.
