Journey-Aware Bidding

A Google beta for Search campaigns on Target CPA, announced in September 2026. You map your funnel stages, import the later ones through Data Manager, and Google models the probability that an early conversion will progress to a deeper one.

Why it matters

It addresses a real dilemma: optimise for form fills and you get volume with uneven quality, optimise for customers and you have the right objective with too few events to learn from. This keeps the high-volume event as the goal while using the rare later ones as evidence.

What goes wrong

It models how likely a lead is to progress. It does not decide what a lead is worth, and those are different jobs. Two leads equally likely to become customers can be worth very different amounts, and nothing in the beta closes that gap. It also runs on exactly the same pipe value-based bidding needs: later stages imported promptly, keyed to the original click.

Measure this on your own data

The diagnostic reads a CRM export in your browser and reports your volume, your match rate and the spread between your leads against the thresholds in this glossary. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.

See what your own leads are worth

Read your closed deals and find out whether your lead values actually vary, and by how much. Nothing is stored, and your file is read in your browser.
