Step 1 of 5 on the chain

Hidden form field

Also called Hidden field.

A field in a web form that the visitor never sees, filled in by the page itself. It is how a click identifier, a campaign ID or a browser cookie travels from the landing page into the CRM with the lead.

Why it matters

Capturing the click identifier on the page is only half the job. If the form has no field to carry it, or the CRM has no property to keep it, the identifier is dropped the moment the form is sent and the lead can never be matched to its click.

What goes wrong

Three things all have to hold: a hidden field on the form, a script or a form setting that fills it, and a CRM property the form writes it to. Each one breaks on its own. A form rebuilt in a new tool loses its hidden fields. A field filled only on the landing page stays empty on the second page a visitor reaches before filling in the form. A CRM property that exists but is not mapped in the form's settings receives nothing.

None of this is visible. The form submits, the lead appears, and the only sign is a column that stays blank.

What this product does about it

Check my site sends one test lead through your own site and form, then finds its made-up click ID in your next export or HubSpot pull, including when it landed in a column that is not being read.

How to check it on your own account

Send one test lead through your site with a click ID in the address, then open it in your CRM and look for that ID.

The same method, worked through for each kind of business: what a lead is worth, what is known on arrival and what to prepare.

Measure this on your own data

The diagnostic reads a CRM export in your browser and reports your volume, your match rate and the spread between your leads against the thresholds in this glossary. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.

See what your own leads are worth

Read your closed deals and find out whether your lead values actually vary, and by how much. Nothing is stored, and your file is read in your browser.
